To All Members of the WLHS Community:
In the US News and World Report, they published an article
and a list of "America's Best High Schools, 2009." They analyzed academic and
enrollment data from more than 21,000 public high schools to find the very best
across the country. These top schools were placed into gold, silver, bronze, or
honorable mention categories.
I am excited for WLHS that we received a Silver recognition!
This is an outstanding accomplishment and recognition for our school and our
entire community. The positive work and dedication from our students, staff and
parents is being noticed in our own state as well as across the country.The
data they analyzed is based on state assessment scores in reading and math,
assessment results in all of our demographic student groups, the number of AP
tests taken and the percentage of students passing AP exams, a college readiness
index and a participation index.
In Oregon, there was 1 gold medalist school, 6 silver and 24 bronze schools.
